Maria Sorbara Mora Founder and Executive Director of Integrated Eating offers this 40 hour IAYT accredited course

This comprehensive continuing education course provides an in depth study of the spectrum of eating disorders through a holistic model for treatment and recovery.

Yogic, allopathic and psychotherapeutic frameworks will be combined to provide a strong foundation in recovery oriented yoga programs. Current treatment modalities, research and creative technique are the pillars that will be provided throughout.

This course includes online webinars and lectures, yoga practice demonstrations, working in small groups and having an opportunity to receive mentoring supervision from an eating disorder specialist.
The course is made up of three distinct parts and requires a nine (9) month commitment:

  • The 18 week webinar series will cover a comprehensive study of eating disorders and dive into yoga philosophy through the lens of recovery. Webinars will take place from October 2019-February 2020. Dates/times to follow.

  • The second part of the course is a two day in person workshop that will introduce yoga therapy skills and tools to prepare attendees to assess, create and evaluate program efficacy. Participants with have two opportunities to attend the mandatory weekend workshop March and April 2020.

  • The 6 week flexible mentoring/supervision aspect support attendees as they work with a client and receive valuable feedback.This will run from April-June 2020. Mentoring services available for those who work with yoga therapy clients in recovery from disordered eating, eating disorders, body image issues and compulsive exercise (extra cost for this per hour or by package).

  • Yoga teachers/practitioners who are interested in working with individuals in recovery from disordered eating and eating disorders.

Maria Sorbara Mora, MS, R.D., CEDRD, C-IAYT, is the Founder of Integrated Eating Dietetics - Nutrition PLLC. Maria’s practice includes nutrition and yoga therapy, clinical and yoga therapy supervision, and professional trainings. Maria strongly believes in the holistic model for recovery, allowing for change and transformation. She has treated individuals with eating disorders for over 15 years and began instituting yoga therapy into her practice with eating disorder clients in 2010. Maria holds a Masters of Science in both Nutrition Education and Applied Physiology from Teachers College (TC), Columbia University. Along with her nutrition certifications, she is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and is a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner (PRYT) as well as a 200 hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (YA). She has written for the International Journal of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy and has contributed a chapter for Carolyn Costin and Joe Kelly’s book Yoga and Eating Disorders: Ancient Healing for Modern Illness. She is awaiting publication of her holistic work, Incorporating Science, Body, and Yoga in Nutrition-Based Eating Disorder Treatment and Recovery: The Integrated Eating Approachdue to be released in 2020 by Routledge.
